Sit-rep is a military term shortened from ‘Situation Report’.
I recently came back from visiting London with my young family. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves, but were also glad to be back ‘home’ in Nigeria. While we were there, we had a few of my in-laws from Berlin visiting, as well as a few other friends and acquaintances from years and decades past.
Throughout a lot of the conversations, I found out some interesting information, which in turn will change the direction of the website’s content.
- A lot of people were interested in what we were up to in Nigeria
- A lot of people were interested in what we (as a family with three young boys) are up to and how we are progressing
- A few people were interested in what books and other resources I have been reading
- And only a very few of my extended family had heard of Jocko Willink
So the changes going forward are that once a week on Sundays, I will give a sit-rep on each of these topics. I understand that some months have five Sundays instead of four, and I reserve those for highlighting people getting after it, sourced from Twitter.
I will look into the logistics of getting separate sign ups for each topic so that one may not overlap with the other, depending on the interest of the individuals.
This way, people will at least hear from me once a month, depending on their sign up preference. It will also ensure that no one will fall through the cracks in the information department.
I will work on cutting Jocko Podcast episodes into bite-sized chunks, which I lovingly refer to JcNuggets. Been thinking of doing this since early 2018, but two boys turned to three, and I was outnumbered. Will probably post on YouTube and only post the link on this site.
And of course, if this isn’t working for people, we can always change direction again.
