So. I’ve been spending about an hour a day (on days when I can) slicing up the Jocko Podcasts into JcNuggets, posting them on YouTube, and sharing the links through Twitter. I get through about 30-40 podcast minutes, depending on the speed of the internet connection that I have, also the speed of the computer that’s rendering the files.
In other Jocko-related news, I see the Origin Immersion Camp sign up page is live now. I’d really like to go, but there are a lot of mitigating circumstances.
- It’s mainly logistical, in that there doesn’t seem to be much public transport, which means renting a car if I go with my family, which is not really feasible since none of us have an American driver’s license.
- Also with the car seat regulations, we’d need to rent a big car/mini-van (which is a lot more in expenses).
- Since the camp is only 18+, I’d need to find accommodation for my boys, which also means my husband can’t attend, since someone will need to be with them for the whole week.
- Room and board someplace for them is an additional cost. Not to mention, whatever activities they want to do for that week.
- It’s scheduled for August, which is when the international flights are more expensive overall (summer holidays and all) so that’s an additional expense.
- It’s in Maine, which is a little out of the way of where my family is (Arizona, Michigan, and San Diego), meaning an additional flight expense.
- I was thinking of visiting the States in May, and it’s scheduled for August.
- I haven’t done a spot of BJJ in any capacity. Have only wrestled and rolled in my tomboy youth.
It’s all rather discouraging, but where there’s a will there’s a way. And it’s a ways yet to August…
In the meantime, there’s lots to do and when I have a spare moment, that’s when the JcNuggets get posted.
